Lifetime versus consecutive

Legislative term limits can exist either lifetime or sequent. In the x states where the limits are sequent, once a land legislator has served the maximum number of terms in office, he or she, if eligible, can run for role for the state's other legislative chamber, or leave the legislature. These states are Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota. After a menses of fourth dimension no longer in office in a particular legislative sleeping accommodation, nonetheless, the legislator is allowed to run once more for role in that legislative chamber. The period of fourth dimension that a legislator must exist out of function before being able to run once again is commonly ii years.

In five of the fifteen states with limits on country legislators, the limit is a lifetime limit. These states are California, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, and Oklahoma. In these states, once a legislator has served the maximum allowable number of terms in a detail legislative bedroom, they may never over again run for or hold office in that detail bedroom.[ane]
