When Missing Loved Ones Becomes a Lifestyle
I grew up missing people. My father was a visitor man — a corporate nomad — so when it came time to motion again, we packed up and went where the career opportunities led him.
The only place he ever declined to move was Utah. That's because no one in their correct listen agrees to movement to Utah. (Hey, no offense.)
Growing upwards, I missed friends, neighbors, and classmates across 6 states. Relationships were temporary. Living hundreds of miles from relatives, we visited them once or twice a year. For seven years, my dad worked 2nd shift so he could climb that corporate ladder; often I missed him, too.
When I attended higher, naturally it was out-of-state. Then, I landed a corporate task much like his and continued the nomadic lifestyle of corporate relocations and missing people.
Once I became a parent, nonetheless, I sought to ensure that my own girl didn't abound upwards missing people she loved. I wanted to give her the souvenir of beingness "from" somewhere. I wanted to requite her the gift of not continually feeling loss or separation from all that was familiar.
Nosotros at present live a stone's throw from my parents and other family. Corporate nomads eventually detect their oasis, and it'southward rarely at the top of the organizational ladder.

Where is your haven?

I met my soulmate while living in Europe as a teenager. Nosotros'd spend ours days dreaming about a future together. Simply, her family abruptly left the state and disappeared. The day I watched her lath the plane crying is among the worst days of my life.
Nosotros knew we'd probably never see each other again and promised to always retrieve, and detect each other in the next life.
In the years since, I've searched, but never found any trace of her.
And, while my life went on, I've never forgotten her.
The song that always makes me stop and think about her and what could take been is "Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen. Similar in the song, we just weren't fated to be together. But, we had our one sweet moment - our forever.

Some overnice writing and some good tunes.
The juxtaposition of songs almost existent, raw bodily emotion to some of the made upward nonsense concerning "micro-aggressions" on higher campuses today is startling. Nosotros used to use things like music to cope with anxiety and depression. Then we moved to drugging virtually a whole order and at present we are first to see a generation that human activity as if they are so fragile you tin can't fifty-fifty ask where they were born for fear of hurting their feelings.
